In a meeting held at the President’s Office, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu welcomed His Highness Sheikh Abdulla Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, United Arab Emirates, during a courtesy call aimed at deepening bilateral ties.
President Muizzu expressed his appreciation for the recent agreement concerning the Maldives International Financial Centre, highlighting its significance as a step forward in enhancing economic collaboration between the two nations. He also conveyed his interest in continuing to work closely with the UAE in areas of shared priority.
During the call, Sheikh Abdulla reaffirmed the UAE’s ongoing commitment to invest in the Maldives. He emphasised support for critical sectors including food security, renewable energy, agriculture, and infrastructure development, areas he identified as vital for the country’s long-term stability and economic resilience. Additionally, he expressed the UAE’s readiness to assist in efforts to improve the Maldives’ credit rating and accelerate national development goals.
Both leaders concluded the meeting by underlining their mutual interest in strengthening cooperation and reaffirming a shared vision for future collaboration.
