Industry analysts expect the added capacity to significantly boost tourist arrivals from South-East Asia. Recent figures published by the Ministry of Tourism place Vietnam 65th amongst source markets for visitor arrivals to the Maldives.

The archipelago recorded 2,813 tourist arrivals from Vietnam last year, marking a slight decline from the 2,916 arrivals recorded in 2024. Official figures show that 2,001 Vietnamese tourists visited the Maldives through the end of August this year.

To mark the route launch, VietJet has introduced a promotional campaign featuring a three-day “Golden Days” sale from 8 to 10 October 2026. Under the promotion, the airline is offering zero-fare Eco tickets to prospective passengers.

Tourism officials view VietJet’s rapid regional expansion as a strategic opportunity to widen the Maldives’ tourism market across Vietnam and neighbouring nations throughout South-East Asia.
