Villa College hosted a validation session for the ‘Ethical Code of Conduct for Psychology and Counseling Professionals in the Maldives’ Today. Led by students from the Master of Science (Counselling) program, the session aimed to gather expert insights from local counselling and psychology professionals to establish ethical standards for psychological care.
Villa College reported that the framework was developed to examine the ethical standards of different countries and adapt them to the cultural context and lives of Maldivians. The institution asserts that such a framework will contribute to protecting the rights of mental health care seekers and ensuring their dignity.
As part of Villa College’s initiatives to strengthen the country’s counselling field, the Master of Science (Counselling) program has operated since January 2023. Additionally, a dedicated centre for mental health services is set to open at Villa College this month.
