Villa College Launches Master’s Programme in International Tourism and Hospitality Management

Villa College has introduced a new postgraduate programme aimed at preparing professionals for senior management roles in the Maldives’ tourism and hospitality sector.
The Master of International Tourism and Hospitality Management will be offered by the college’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Experiential Industries. It is designed for professionals seeking to strengthen their leadership, operational and analytical capabilities as the sector faces changing market, sustainability and technology requirements.
The three-semester programme combines online and face-to-face learning. Its first semester covers innovation, customer experience management, sustainable tourism operations, and strategy and leadership.
The second semester includes digital transformation and hospitality data analytics, financial planning and business research methods. Students will also select an elective in project management, global marketing and brand strategy, hospitality law and policy, or cultural tourism.
In the final semester, students can complete an action research paper, executive project or case study research paper.
Villa College said the curriculum focuses on strategic decision-making, the use of qualitative and quantitative data, customer experience, operational efficiency, legal and ethical issues, and teamwork. Vice Rector Dr Ali Najeeb said the programme responds to the need for stronger leadership and strategic skills within the country’s main economic sector.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or a Level 8 graduate diploma in a related field. Alternative entry routes are available to applicants aged 25 and above who hold Level 5 or Level 6 qualifications in related fields and meet the required work-experience thresholds, subject to completing an MQA-approved Pre-Master’s programme.
Applications are open for the September 2026 intake.
