Furthermore, he noted the upcoming Free Trade Agreement with China, scheduled for implementation this year, promises expanded market access. Discussions for agreements with India and the UK are also underway, the minister highlighted.

Given this context, he said the BCC’s role in promoting Dhivehi products under the “Authentic Maldives” initiative becomes significant.

Minister Saeed also outlined broader economic initiatives, including the proposed establishment of a garment factory and market infrastructure. He noted that these initiatives align with the government’s vision to stimulate private enterprise through privatization and public-private partnerships.

Innovation in economic systems is also a priority. The minister highlighted plans to introduce innovative payment systems by establishing a Creator Economy Hub.

Concluding his address, Minister Saeed reiterated the government’s commitment to positioning BCC at the forefront of these efforts and called upon BCC employees to contribute towards realizing Maldives’ economic aspirations.
