The Ministry of Tourism has announced the islands to be leased for the development of resorts.
Speaking at the ‘Burabi’ event organized by the Ministry, Tourism Minister Ali Waheed announced 28 resorts and 7 plots of land for the development of resorts.
Minister highlighted that the public’s best interest was taken into consideration while deciding the locations for these tourist centres. With the completion of the new resorts, as per the government pledge by the beginning of the year 2023, the bed capacity will be at 35,000.
Minister Ali Waheed further added, the construction process for these new resorts will begin in the first 6 months of 2020 and the resorts will make its debut before the end of the current administration. This will include 1,370 beds for the sector with 18,672 job opportunities.
