Four resorts have opened and have begun their service earlier this year with 9 more to come before the end of the year stated the president Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.
In his address on the occasion of World Tourism Day, he stated that the government is taking the necessary steps to ensure the growth and development of the tourism industry and will do all in its power to ensure that everyone will be able to reap the profits of the industry. Along with the additional new resorts, the government is investing in developing the Ibrahim Nasir International airport to accommodate even more international airlines and this has started on the 25th July. Once this project is complete the airport will be able to accommodate 7.5 million travelers a year.
The tourism industry is a booming industry and the world looks to us as an example stated president Yaameen. we can develop and promote the industry with hard-work and need to promote this industry for the development of the country as a whole he added.
