The Ambassador of Singapore to the Maldives, His Excellency, Mr. Chua Thian Poh, has made his farewell call upon His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, yesterday at the President’s Office.
H.E Chua Thian Poh has been Singapore’s accredited ambassador to the Maldives for the past four years.
During the meeting, the President thanked the Ambassador for the many services he has rendered during his ambassadorial tenure and for the singular contributions he has made to improving bilateral ties between our two countries.
He further asked the ambassador to relay his gratitude to the Singaporean Government for the gracious hospitality that was accorded himself, the First Lady, and the Maldivian delegation during his State Visit to Singapore last July.
The President and Ambassador recounted the many areas in which the Maldives and Singapore cooperate. Further, the Singaporean Government has long been an essential development partner to the Maldives, letting us avail their considerable expertise in such spheres as housing, education and waste management, among others.
The Singaporean Government has also made the generous decision to provide the Maldives with a two-year technical assistance package on governance and sustainable development.
The Ambassador’s efforts have been crucial to facilitating Singapore’s considerable engagements with the Maldives. The Ambassador expressed that it has been his honor to represent his government to the Maldives.
The President, in turn, wished the Ambassador all the best in his future endeavors.
