Maldives has won 2 bronze medals at the World Bodybuilding and Physique Championship which is being held at South Korea.
The bronze medals were won by Mohamed Moosa in the 55kg senior men’s bodybuilding category and Azneen Rashaad from the category of men’s sports physique 170 centimeters.
This is the highest achievement received by the Maldives so far in an international bodybuilding competition.
Prior to this, Mohamed Moosa also won a gold medal in a competition held in Nepal earlier this year in June and another bronze medal in a competition held in Indonesia from the same category.
Similarly, Azneen has also received a gold medal from a competition held in South Korea and was titled the fourth in Asia. This is his first time participating in a World Championship.
Along with the Maldives, over 37 countries participated in this year’s championship.
Earlier this year, Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof announced this via Twitter that Maldives will host the 2020 Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship and thanked the senior officials of the Bodybuilding Association of the Maldives (BBAM) for their work “in winning the bid” to host the tournament.
