Maldives Inland Revenue Authority has reported a total of MVR 14.5 billion in revenue in 2016.
According to the official statistics released by MIRA, their total revenue climbed by 1.5billion in comparison to the previous year, where the revenue collected totaled up to MVR 13 billion. Goods and Services Tax (GST) was the highest contributor with 6.2 billion, while the revenue from T-GST (Tourism GST) has reduced slightly.
MIRA stated to news media that they account the increase in revenue to the increase in the income from lease extensions, the increments to GST and Business Profit Tax and also cited the increase in tourist arrivals to the Maldives in comparison to 2015.
