Bank of Maldives has announced that over USD 220 million has been withdrawn from BML USD ATM service & MVR 23 billion worth transactions was made from BML cards in 2016.
Deputy CEO & Director of Operations Mohamed Shareef said “This is an important step in our efforts to make banking easier for our customers. Since its launch, the US Dollar ATM service has been very well received by our customers. More than 645,000 transactions have been made through our USD ATMs in the last year. The total withdrawal amount also exceeded USD 220 million in the same period. These figures show a huge number of customers avoided visiting a branch to make US Dollar transactions.”
Last year, a total of over 19 million transactions were made locally & internationally via cards issued by BML. Total transactions made from BML cards was worth over MVR 23 billion in 2016, which is MVR 40,000 every minute.
