The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives Abdulla Shahid has departed to India on an official trip.
The Foreign Ministry has stated that the visit would be from 15th to 16th April 2021.
During the visit, Minister Shahid will meet his counterpart Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. Jaishankar and discuss bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the purpose of the visit is to review progress on bilateral cooperation, and discuss the implementation of key developmental projects under the Indian Lines of Credit extended to the Maldives.
India is currently funding a number of projects in the Maldives including the Thilamale’ Bridge, housing units in the Male’ area, as well as development projects of Gan International Airport and Hanimaadhoo International Airport.
