The Third Edition of the Mamen Inter-School Cycling Championship 2022 by Dhiraagu and Bike Maldives was held over this weekend.
Due to the overwhelming support by schools and to accommodate the large number of interested
participants, the event – which was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday (17 September)
– took place over both Friday and Saturday, 16-17 September 2022.
Over 1000 participants from 32 schools took part in the Mamen Inter-School Cycling
Championship this year in the following categories:
• Under 11 (Nursery to Grade 4) – 1K Fun Ride
• Under 13 (Grade 5, 6) – 200m Sprint
• Under 13 (Grade 5, 6) – 1K Sprint
• Under 15 (Grade 7, 8) – 200m Sprint
• Under 15 (Grade 7, 8) – 1K Sprint
• Under 17 (Grade 9, 10) – 200m Sprint
• Under 17 (Grade 9, 10) – 3K Ride
• Under 19 (Grade 11, 12) – 200m Sprint
• Under 19 (Grade 11, 12) – 3K Ride
• Mixed 3K Team Pursuit – Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19
Three male and female winners were chosen from each competitive category, excluding the 1K
Fun Ride. Additionally, a Champion School was also chosen from each age category.
This year, the tournament was carried out at the Cycling Track in Hulhumale’ Phase 2. Through this
tournament, Dhiraagu and Bike Maldives hoped to foster an interest of biking amongst school children
while promoting the importance of a healthy, sustainable lifestyle from a young age.

environment, promotes community engagement, and enhances the experiences of school children.
