State Trading Organization (STO) has decided to lower the prices of potatoes, onions, and eggs in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan. The company plans to bring in six shipments of these products, which will be sold at a cheaper price compared to last year’s Ramadan season. The first shipment has already arrived and is currently available at STO People’s Choice and Wholesale Center.
These products will be sold in bulk at STO Wholesale Center, STO Industrial Village, and Hulhumale’ Ramadan Mart, which will open on March 20th. STO Industrial Village will begin selling goods on March 5th. Additionally, STO will distribute onions, eggs, and potatoes to 11 atolls across the Maldives and assist in making the products available on other islands.
STO will also bring in other essential food items for Ramadan, including some locally produced goods such as melons, bananas, papayas, watermelon, cucumbers, and chili. If the price of essential commodities increases, STO has pledged to control the price by lowering its prices.
