The President of the Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom has appointed Ahmed Naseer as the Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) after the parliament approved him with the consensus of all the 33 members who took part in the vote.
The position for Governor of MMA was vacant after Dr. Azeema Adam resigned on 16th August to move to the United States with her family. Following her resignation, President Yameen nominated the Assistant Governor of MMA, Neeza Imad for the post; however, her name was withdrawn and replaced with Ahmed Naseer on 20th August.
Ahmed Naseer previously served as the CEO of Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) and also was the State Minister during former President Mohamed Nasheed’s tenure. He has also worked in senior positions of MMA.
Naseer acquired his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Marketing and did his Masters in Economics.
