On August 13th, Minister Abdulla Mausoom had a friendly meeting with a frequent visitor to the Maldives, Mr. Naito Takashi from Japan. The gathering occurred on the safari vessel Blue, operated by the Fun Azul Fleet where Minister Mausoom congratulated Mr. Takashi on his impressive 103rd visit to the Maldives.
Mr. Takashi’s deep fondness for the Maldives is evident, given his consistent visits over the past 24 years—making the trip 3 to 5 times each year.
In 2022, Japan was ranked 39th among the top tourist source markets travelling to the Maldives. The Ministry of Tourism’s recent data also reflects a noticeable increase in tourist arrivals. As of August 2nd, the enchanting island nation has already welcomed an impressive total of 1,086,074 tourists.
