Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has inked four agreements with the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure for projects in Th. Kinbidhoo, Sh. Funadhoo, B. Thulhaadhoo and M. Raiymandhoo
Firstly, the Th. Kinbidhoo Land Reclamation Project, valued at MVR 148.20 million, encompasses a scope of 25 hectares of reclamation operations, 306,162 cbm dredging operations, and a 1,528m drainage bioswale. The ceremony saw signatures from COO Shahid Hussain Moosa representing MTCC and Fathimath Shaana Farooq, Director General for the Ministry. The event was attended by MP Mohamed Nashiz.
Subsequently, an agreement was formalised for the Sh. Funadhoo Land Reclamation Project. With an estimated cost of MVR 139.72 million, the undertaking includes 25 hectares of reclamation works, a 1,185m drainage bioswale, and 35,400 cbm of boat beaching dredging operations. MP Mohamed Shahid honoured the occasion with his presence.
The third project, focused on the B. Thulhaadhoo Quay Wall and Breakwater repair, is budgeted at MVR 22.8 million. The works for this initiative cover 551.91m of quay wall repair, a 311m harbour breakwater, a 157m channel breakwater, a 15m submerged breakwater, and a 214m by 2m jetty.
Lastly, the M. Raiymandhoo Harbour Development Project, pegged at MVR 69.93 million, was introduced. This endeavour will involve 43,875 cbm of harbour basin dredging operations, 6,372 cbm of channel dredging, construction of a 311m revetment, 100m groynes, 100m breakwater, and a 254m quay wall. Additionally, there will be the installation of 1,230 sqm of harbour pavement and harbour lights. MP Ikram Hassan graced the signing ceremony.
These collaborations mark a significant step towards infrastructure enhancement in the Maldives, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to sustainable development and modernisation.
