Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation’s (MMPRC) Managing Director, Fathmath Thaufeeq, revealed a significant change in the representation of Maldives at tourism fairs. Starting now, only local travel agents and tour operators will have the privilege to represent and promote the country at these international events.
Foreign tour operators and travel agents, who were previously active participants in these fairs, will no longer be able to showcase the Maldivian tourism experience. Fathmath Thaufeeq emphasised this alteration as a strategic move to boost the involvement of local entities in promoting the nation’s tourism sector.
The revised membership policy places a premium on local tour operators and travel agents registered in the Maldives. This change aims to elevate the presence of Maldivian tourism on the global stage and foster the growth of local businesses within the industry.
