Villa College and the Maafushi Island Council have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing higher education and training on the island.
Representing Villa College, Vice-Rector Dr. Ali Najib sealed the agreement, while President Hassan Salah signed on behalf of the Maafushi Council at a ceremony held in Maafushi on 14th March.
Key components of the MoU include provisions to provide scholarships to Maafushi students enabling them to pursue studies at Villa College, with the scholarship amounts to be determined annually by the Maafushi Council.
Further, both parties agreed to collaborate on work to launch Villa College courses in Maafushi, in addition to promoting Villa College programmes within the Maafushi community.
Moreover, Villa College has committed to providing technical assistance and guidance for the implementation of the Maafushi Council Scholarship Scheme.
Beyond student-centric initiatives, the partnership extends to professional development opportunities for Maafushi Council employees, with Villa College offering assistance in enhancing their skills in areas identified as crucial by the council.
