According to data released by Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal, tourist arrivals in the Maldives during the first quarter of 2024 surged by 15.1% compared to the same period in 2023.
Sharing the figures on social media, Minister Faisal highlighted increased occupancy rates in January and February 2024 compared to 2023. By March 30th, 596,724 tourists had visited the island nation, compared to 518,347 during the same period in 2023. This represents a notable increase of 7.6%.
The tourism industry’s upward trajectory is further evidenced by a record-breaking February 2024, which saw over 200,000 tourist arrivals. Statistics indicate an average daily arrival of approximately 6,186 tourists, with visitors enjoying an average stay of 8 days.
This robust growth in the tourism sector underscores the Maldives’ enduring appeal as a world-class holiday destination, offering pristine beaches, luxurious resorts, and diverse marine life.
