Ooredoo Maldives launched its Artificial Intelligence (AI)- powered digital services yesterday in Landhoo Island, located in Noonu Atoll, marking it as the company’s first Digital Island. According to Ooredoo, the move is a significant step towards transforming Maldives into a digital nation and promoting inclusive participation in the digital era.
“We are deeply honoured to select N. Landhoo as the inaugural island for the Ooredoo Digital Island program, impressed by their enthusiastic adoption of digital innovation aimed at enhancing the lives of its residents,” said CEO and MD of Ooredoo Maldives, Khalid Al-Hamadi, adding that the integration of m-Faisaa, Ooredoo’s digital payment platform, into Landhoo’s daily life last year was a significant milestone.
“Notably, over 80% of transactions via Ooredoo happen digitally, showcasing the island’s readiness to embrace digital solutions,” he noted.
The telecom giant will collaborate with the Landhoo Council under the initiative, working to enhance the island’s health, education, and business sectors through strategic partnerships and innovative digital solutions.
Abdul Azeez, President of the Landhoo Council, expressed his gratitude towards Ooredoo for their initiative, emphasising the importance of improving the everyday lives of the island’s residents. “Through our collaborations with Ooredoo Maldives, I hope that we will be able to introduce modern digital solutions benefitting the people of Landhoo,” he said.
