Maldives Immigration has announced that, effective from 15th August 2024, outbound travellers will no longer be required to complete the Imuga ‘Traveller Declaration’ form when departing from the country. This change comes as part of a directive issued by the Controller General of Immigration, aimed at streamlining the departure process and enhancing overall efficiency for passengers.
The decision, detailed in a circular, is expected to reduce the preparation time required for travel, thereby simplifying the experience for all departing passengers. This adjustment is anticipated to be particularly advantageous for frequent travellers and business professionals, who often face tight schedules. By eliminating this step, the Maldives is making a concerted effort to improve the convenience and speed of processing at departure points, reinforcing its standing as a leading destination known for both its hospitality and operational efficiency.
Despite the removal of the ‘Traveller Declaration’ form for those leaving the Maldives, it is important to note that the requirement remains in place for inbound travellers. All passengers, except for Maldivians arriving in the Maldives, must continue to submit the ‘Traveller Declaration’ form at least 96 hours prior to their arrival. This measure ensures that all necessary security and immigration checks can be conducted effectively, maintaining a safe environment for all travellers.
