President Highlights Investment Opportunities at Maldives–Malaysia Business Forum

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has invited Malaysian businesses to explore new opportunities in the Maldives, outlining his Administration’s development vision during a keynote address at the Maldives–Malaysia Business Forum 2025 held yesterday.

In his remarks, President Muizzu reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving quality of life, strengthening national institutions, and unlocking the potential of the Maldives’ islands. He noted that these priorities remain central to the Administration’s ongoing efforts, reflecting the pledges made to the Maldivian people.

Highlighting the Maldives’ ambitions to become a fully developed nation by 2040, the President positioned the country as a dynamic and strategic partner for Malaysian businesses. He stressed the importance of partnerships that draw on the strengths of both nations to achieve shared goals.

President Muizzu showcased the opportunities available within the Maldives’ revitalised Special Economic Zones (SEZs), which offer incentives designed to attract forward-looking investors. He emphasised the Administration’s commitment to building trusted and mutually beneficial relationships with international partners, underlining that the Maldives seeks to collaborate with reputable businesses on a solid foundation.

Pointing to the Maldives’ location along key international shipping routes, the President described the country’s strategic advantages for maritime and logistics investments. He also noted that the tourism sector remains a strong area for growth, particularly in hospitality and eco-tourism.

Concluding his address, President Muizzu extended a welcoming invitation to Malaysian businesses, encouraging them to view the Maldives not just as a destination, but as a partner in development and prosperity.
