STO first introduced Makita products to the Maldivian market in 1998, beginning a relationship that has supported major infrastructure and construction projects nationwide. At the anniversary event, guests experienced the latest Makita technology, including demonstrations of cordless drills and advanced saws in an interactive experience zone.

STO Construction Solutions Director Mohamed Iman reflected on the history of the collaboration, while plaques of appreciation were awarded to organisations that have played a key role in the partnership’s success. These included Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Housing Development Corporation (HDC), State Electric Company Ltd (STELCO), Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Universal Hawks Pvt Ltd, Alia Construction Pvt Ltd, and SJ Constructions Pvt Ltd.

In their remarks, Omote Takashi recognised STO’s efforts in establishing Makita as a trusted name in the Maldives, while Ambassador Ishigami underlined the wider importance of the partnership, noting its impact on both industry growth and economic relations.

Founded in 1915, Makita is a global leader in power tools. Its products, distributed by STO, have supported a wide range of projects across the Maldives over the past quarter-century.

The celebration at Kurumba Maldives Resort marked both the achievements of the partnership and the ongoing commitment of STO and Makita to continue serving the Maldivian construction market.
