The Central Bank of the Maldives MMA has stated that they would be conducting a survey this month from the 24th to the 30th on how much and for what reasons locals spend their money on their trips abroad.
MMA has stated that the purpose of this annual survey is to get a clear idea on how and why Maldivians spend their money and to create a base economic statistic on the economic dealings between Maldivians and foreigners.
Some of the aspects covered in the survey are:
- How money is spent abroad
- Reasons for travelling abroad
- Amount of money spent on hotel bookings, air fare, medical bills and other expenses
