Maldives Government has released a statement which expresses that the Maldives considers the decision taken by the Government of India regarding Article 370 of the Indian Constitution as an internal matter.
It further states that the Maldives Government believe that it is the right of every sovereign nation to amend their laws as required.
Article 370 of the Indian Constitution gave special status to the region of Jammu and Kashmir, allowing it to have a separate constitution, a state flag and autonomy over the internal administration of the state which came into place after India’s Independence from British rule in 1947.
The current government of India has announced the Government’s decision to repeal Article 370 of the Indian Consitution. They intend to make the region of Jammu and Kashmir part of the Indian Government.
