ADC imposed from 1st May 2017

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority has imposed Airport Development Tax from 1st May 2017 (Monday) at a rate of USD25 per foreign traveler, and USD12 per local traveler via Velana International Airport.

Diplomatic travelers, children under the age of 2 years and transit passengers are not required to pay ADC. According to article 10b of the law, Airport Development Fee shall be collected from passengers who purchase their ticket or change their travel dates on or after 1 February 2017 for travel on or after 1 May 2017.

The bill deciding on ADC was passed by the Majlis and ratified by President Yameen in December 2016, and the proposed guidelines for the collection of ADF was publicized by MIRA in January 2017. Airport Service Charge is already levied from all passengers passing through VIA, at a rate of 25USD for non-Maldivians and 12USD for Maldivians. With the addition of ADF, non-Maldivians will be levied a total of USD50 and Maldivians will be levied a total of USD24.
