Minister of Tourism, Mr. Moosa Zameer, has signed an agreement awarding Malaysian company ‘Gryphon Energy Group’ a USD 57.5 million contract to develop 5 new regional airports in different areas of Maldives.
The agreement was signed today at a special ceremony held at the Ministry of Tourism. According to Minister Moosa Zameer, this is part of the Government’s plan to improve the existing infrastructure and transport facilities in the Maldives, with the aim being the ability to reach a regional airport within 30 minutes of travel from any island in the Maldives.
The five new regional airports are to be developed at H.Dh. Kulhudhufushi, Sh. Funadhu, F.Nilandhu, G.dh. Maavarulu and G.Dh. Faresmaathoda.
