Increased Turkish Airlines Flights to Enhance Maldives Connectivity via Istanbul

An increase in flight frequency by Turkish Airlines is set to strengthen the Maldives’ connectivity with key long-haul markets during the upcoming summer season, offering travellers an alternative transit route as regional aviation patterns continue to shift.

Turkish Airlines has announced plans to expand its operations between Istanbul and Malé, raising the total number of weekly flights from four to six. The additional services will operate on a seasonal basis, beginning on 13 May and continuing until 20 October.

Under the revised schedule, flights departing Istanbul will operate every Wednesday at 20:20, arriving in Malé at 06:30 the following morning. Return services from Malé are scheduled for Thursdays at 08:00, landing in Istanbul at 14:20.

The expansion reflects efforts to accommodate demand during the summer travel period, particularly from European and North American markets. Istanbul’s position as a major global transit hub allows passengers to connect to a wide network of destinations, making it a key gateway for travellers heading to the Maldives.

The increased frequency also comes at a time when changes affecting Middle Eastern airspace have prompted airlines and passengers to consider alternative routing options. In this context, the additional Turkish Airlines services are expected to provide greater flexibility and reliability for inbound travel to the Maldives.
