AIA in talks with Sri Lankan to start scheduled operations from Gan International Airport

Addu international Aiports Company (AIA) has stated that they are in talks with Sri Lankan to begin scheduled international flights between Gan, Addu and Colombo Sri Lankan.

The talks have begun amidst the rumors that Sri Lankan has already planned the flights to Gan, according to several news media. Whats more is that Sri Lankan has shown their interest in travelling to Gan on many previous occasions as well.

While speaking to the media General Manager of AIA Ms Ibthishama Ahmed Saeed, said that the negotiations are definitely underway and that it’s a bit too soon to mention any details yet. However, once the details come in she would definitely convey it all media.

In addition to this, Ms Ibthishama also stated that AIA is in talks with other airlines to start scheduled international flights to Gan Airport. “we will start discussions with other airlines in an upcoming fair” she added.

Part new runway of the Gan Aiport has been in use since last year. The 3160-meter runway is designed to accommodate even the largest of aircrafts with ease. Along with this a seaplane base is also under construction, a project led by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA). The total development cost the Gan Airport development costs up to $60 million.
