The Bangladesh High Commission in Maldives celebrated the 52nd Independence and National Day of Bangladesh on March 26th at the Chancery in Hulhumale. During the event, H.E. Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad raised the national flag while the national anthem of Bangladesh played in the background. All employees of the High Commission and the Bangladesh community living in Male were in attendance.
In his speech, the High Commissioner paid tribute to the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and other freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence. He highlighted the strong and friendly relationship between Bangladesh and Maldives and expressed his warm wishes to the people of Maldives on this auspicious day.
The High Commissioner emphasized the importance of increasing people-to-people contact and engagement in tourism and business activities between the two countries. He thanked the Maldivian government and Foreign Minister H.E. Abdulla Shahid for their felicitations on the national day of Bangladesh.
Finally, the High Commissioner urged everyone to work towards the nation’s overall development and make Bangladesh an intelligent country by 2041. The Counsellor and Head of Chancery of the Mission, Md Sohel Parvez, also spoke during the event.
