“Maldives Border Miles” program, the first of its kind loyalty program developed in the entire world for tourists, is now open for partners.
Registered tourist facilities and other business entities providing services to tourists can enroll as a partner of Maldives Border Miles. Partners can provide discounts or privileged services of their choice for the tiers in the program:
– Aida (Bronze tier)
– Anantara (Silver tier)
– Abaarana (Gold tier)
Interested parties are requested to email Maldives Immigration (mbm@immigration.gov.mv) and they will contact to discuss about the offers proposed by parties for each tier.
“Because this is a low time for tourism industry, we want everyone in the industry to benefit from the program,” a statement by an Immigration official read. “So participation is free of charge.”
This will be a great exposure for industry partners as Imuga platform will be used as a platform for Maldives Border Miles. Imuga is viewed by all travelers traveling to and from Maldives. Points are awarded to travelers for obtaining services from the partners (Like; diving, watersports, etc.). Some bonus points are also awarded if travelers buy services from the partners, like members celebrating their honeymoon and weddings anniversaries in Maldives will earn extra points if they buy related packages from the enrolled partners.
Tourists who enroll in the Maldives Border Miles program will earn points based on the number of visits and duration of stay. Additional points will be awarded for visits to celebrate special occasions. Each tier will be defined by a set variety of rewards, services or benefits, which increase in value as members progress.
How travelers will earn points:
50 points for each border crossing
30 points for visits to celebrate honeymoons
30 points for visits to celebrate wedding anniversaries
30 points for visits to celebrate birthdays
10 points for visits during local occasions
20 points for seasonal visits
5 points for each night spent in Maldives
5 points for pre-defined services obtained from partners
How travelers can upgrade the tier:
Earn 500 points to reach Aida
Earn 2000 points to reach Antara
Earn 4000 points to reach Abaarana
“As per our estimate, for an average traveler, it will take about 3-4 trips to reach Aida, 15-17 trips to Antara and 30-32 trips to Abaarana,” Maldives Immigration reported. “As this program is aimed for repeated travelers, we believe that tourists will start earning the first tier by the end of next year probably.”
Only tourists can enroll as a member of Maldives Border Miles. However, points will be rewarded if the traveler stay in a registered tourist facility and if they stay at least 3 nights in Maldives. For the most recent updates of the program, visit imuga.immigration.gov.mv/mbm
The Maldives Border Miles is a tourism promotion program initiated by Maldives Immigration, and developed with joint stakeholders, who also joined the ceremony; Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
With the introduction of the Maldives Border Miles program, it is expected that tourism will boost considerably as it is an added advantage in promoting Maldives. Furthermore, it is also a golden opportunity for returning visitors to rediscover the best of Maldives and get the most out of their visit to the sunny side of life.
