The discussions form part of a national effort to establish mariculture as a distinct industry across the Maldives. The government has designated five regions for development, while the Ministry is conducting island-level training programmes to build local expertise.

Six training sessions have been completed so far, providing 76 participants with skills to support the emerging sector.
