Flynas Resumes Riyadh to Malé Flights with Three Weekly Services

Flynas has resumed scheduled flights to Velana International Airport, restoring direct air connectivity between Riyadh and Malé as travel links between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia continue to expand.

The Saudi-based airline will operate three weekly services between King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Velana International Airport. The resumption adds further capacity on routes connecting the Maldives with the Middle East, a region that remains important to the country’s tourism industry.

The first flight under the resumed schedule, Flynas flight XY245, arrived at Velana International Airport on 20 June from Riyadh. Arriving passengers were welcomed with a traditional Bodu Beru performance and a ceremonial water salute.

Passengers on the first inbound flight, as well as those departing on the first outbound Flynas service from Velana International Airport, were also presented with special giveaways to mark the occasion.

The return of Flynas services is expected to support travel demand from Saudi Arabia and offer passengers more convenient access between the Kingdom and the Maldives. Regular services from Riyadh also add to the wider network of Middle Eastern carriers serving the country, supporting both leisure travel and regional connectivity.

Velana International Airport has continued to expand its airline network as the main international gateway of the Maldives. Maldives Airports Company Limited said it remains focused on working with airline partners to improve connectivity, enhance passenger experience, and support the growth of the aviation and tourism sectors.
