India has offered a stand alone credit of USD 40 million for the development of sports infrastructure in the Maldives.
The announcement was made during an event held at the Ekuveni Track in Male’ as part of Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar’s ongoing visit to the Maldives.
Speaking during the event, India’s Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar said that India would be providing Maldives a loan of USD 40 million for the development of sports infrastructure and that the agreement would be signed between the two countries soon.
Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof states that the assistance will lead to the development of sports infrastructure not just in Male’, but also in other regions of the country. The assistance will be used to build synthetic tracks and indoor courts in islands such as Addu, Fuvahmulah, Thinadhoo, and Kulhudhuffushi.
