Maldives Airports Company Limited has announced plans to construct a new VIP Complex at Velana International Airport and has approached both local and foreign contractors to submit proposals.
MACL’s Managing Director Mr. Adil Moosa stated to new media that the new VIP Complex would be a 4-storey building at the current location of ‘Aqua Restaurant ‘ and that the complex would have a view of the sea. Mr. Adil Moosa further clarified that the contractors that were invited to send proposals are local companies and also foreign companies that are currently conducting projects at the airport.
The new VIP Lounge is envisioned to comprise of several luxurious facilities and services such as the VIP and CIP lounges, resting rooms, bathrooms equipped with showering facilities, prayer room and with services such as the ability to check-in to flights. The new lounge is expected to be constructed and opened during this year.
