Maldives and Sri Lanka Explore Collaborations for Agricultural Development

In a bid to bolster agricultural development, discussions have taken place between the Maldives and Sri Lanka regarding potential collaborations. The discussions were held as part of Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture Dr Hussain Rasheed Hassan’s recent official visit to Sri Lanka.

As part of his visit, Minister Hussain Rasheed Hassan paid a courtesy call to Sri Lanka’s Minister of Fisheries, Douglas Devananda. The purpose of the meeting was to explore avenues of cooperation in the agricultural sector between the two nations. Minister Devananda appealed to the Maldivian government for support in developing sustainable fisheries in Sri Lanka.

Furthermore, Minister Hussain Rasheed Hassan engaged in extensive discussions with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Agriculture, Mahinda Amaraweera, as part of his visit. Minister Amaraweera emphasized the importance of cooperation and collaboration between the two countries for the advancement of agriculture.

This exchange of ideas and dialogue is seen as a positive step towards strengthening the ties between the Maldives and Sri Lanka in the field of agriculture. As the discussions continue, it is anticipated that concrete plans and initiatives will be formulated to foster sustainable agricultural development and food security in both countries.
