With Maldivian now operating direct flights to three destinations in China, the use of these routes for fish exports is expected to contribute to state revenues. Additionally, the benefits of the free trade agreement between the Maldives and China will be further utilised through this initiative.

According to Maldivian, the airline’s wide-body aircraft can carry up to 10 tonnes of cargo per flight. These operations are also expected to benefit businesses in the Maldives by improving both import and export capabilities.
