Maldives Seeks Stronger Tourism Links With Japanese Travel Agents

The Maldives is seeking to strengthen tourism engagement with Japan through closer cooperation with the country’s travel industry, as part of efforts to increase arrivals and improve destination promotion in the Japanese market.

Ahmed Mahloof, Ambassador of Maldives to Japan, met Kuniharu Ebina, President of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), to discuss ways to strengthen tourism ties between the Maldives and Japan.

According to Ambassador Mahloof, the discussions focused on JATA’s support in increasing Japanese tourist arrivals to the Maldives, strengthening the promotion of the Maldives in the Japanese market, and building closer connections between travel agents in both countries.

The meeting also reflected the Maldives’ continued efforts to maintain engagement with established tourism markets through direct cooperation with travel industry stakeholders. Stronger links with Japanese travel agents could support wider destination visibility and improve coordination between tourism operators in both countries.

Ambassador Mahloof said he looked forward to increased collaboration and stronger tourism cooperation between the Maldives and Japan.
