Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal has said that the Maldives tourism sector will generate an annual revenue of USD 6 billion by 2027 – the end of the current presidential term.
Addressing attendees at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Minister Faisal outlined the government’s tourism master plan for the next five years, highlighting the administration’s goal to achieve 2 million tourist arrivals by year-end.

Expressing confidence in meeting these targets, he emphasised the strategic importance of the Visitor Economy Council established by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Minister Faisal highlighted that the council is tasked with diversifying the tourism sector by promoting new niches such as sports tourism, cultural exploration, and community engagement. He also elaborated on the government’s commitment to sustainable tourism through the recently introduced Eco-Tourism Framework and roadmap.
He also expressed optimism about fostering fruitful partnerships with Middle Eastern travel trade businesses and investors at ATM 2024.
