Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) has announced the resumption of the guesthouse project, which calls in for the development of 25-59 guesthouses in Laamu Baresdhoo. This project is to commence yet again as a Joint Venture with an investor.
Speaking at the State-owned Enterprises Committee (SOE), Managing Director of MITDC, Mohamed Raaid stated that he does not wish to abort the project. He also highlighted that there has not been an obstacle for the resumption of the guesthouse project in Laamu Baresdhoo and that MITDC. The company does not wish to acquire a loan for the project, according to Mohamed Raaid.
Mohamed Raaid also stated that the company is repaying the slot booking fee taken by the previous managements of MITDC from investors, upon orders from the court.
Baresdhoo guesthouse project was first commenced during the previous administration. It has been decided to develop 25-50 guesthouses under this project along with a hotel of 100 beds.
