
The newly appointed non-resident ambassadors of France, the Netherlands, and the Philippines to the Maldives paid courtesy calls on Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam on Tuesday, following the presentation of their credentials to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu earlier in the day at separate ceremonies held at the President’s Office.
France
The Non-resident Ambassador of France to the Maldives, Rémi Lambert, met Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the presentation of his Letters of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The Minister congratulated Ambassador Lambert and welcomed him to his new role. Ambassador Lambert expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended by the Government of Maldives.
Both sides reviewed longstanding bilateral relations and discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in areas including tourism, maritime affairs, marine protection, climate change, and security.
The Minister expressed confidence that the Ambassador’s tenure would further strengthen Maldives–France relations. He was accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Netherlands
The Non-resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Maldives, Wiebe Jakob de Boer, also paid a courtesy call on the Foreign Minister following the presentation of his credentials to the President.
Minister Iruthisham congratulated Ambassador De Boer on his appointment, while the Ambassador expressed gratitude for the meeting.
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation across education, tourism, environment, and economic development, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepening bilateral ties.
The Philippines
The newly appointed Ambassador of the Philippines to the Maldives, Nina P. Cainglet, met Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam following the presentation of her credentials.
The Minister extended congratulations and conveyed condolences to the Government and people of the Philippines following the recent earthquake off Mindanao, expressing hope for recovery efforts.
Both sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening engagement at bilateral and multilateral levels.
