Ooredoo Fintech has surpassed 5,000 users on its integrated PayPal and mFaisaa service, marking a major milestone in the expansion of international digital payment access across the Maldives.

The platform, which launched in June 2026, allows local users to link their PayPal accounts directly to mFaisaa. Ooredoo Fintech explains that through this link, customers receive overseas payments straight into their mFaisaa USD Pocket. Users can also transfer withdrawn funds back to their linked PayPal accounts, offering greater flexibility when managing international transactions.

The company highlights that the rapid adoption of the service reflects growing demand for accessible cross-border payment options in the country. Freelancers, content creators, entrepreneurs, and individuals who regularly receive funds from abroad drive much of this uptake.

Under the current system, mFaisaa users can move incoming PayPal funds into their USD Pocket and subsequently transfer those sums to local bank accounts or make cash withdrawals. Ooredoo charges no additional fees for PayPal-to-mFaisaa transfers.

Ooredoo Fintech claims that the integration supports a broader initiative to build an inclusive digital economy in the Maldives by simplifying how residents access international digital finance platforms.
