The renowned European brand Baccarat has revealed plans to establish a resort in the Maldives. The proposed resort will be situated within a reclaimed lagoon in the Male’ atoll.
The Baccarat resort, covering approximately 100 hectares of land, plans to feature over 100 luxury villas, reflecting the brand’s reputation for elegance and sophistication. With a history spanning 260 years, Baccarat is well-known for its symbolic luxury. With its portfolio of upscale properties, it has established a presence in Europe, America, and the Middle East.
Overseeing the project is Raul Leal, the CEO of SH Hotels and Resorts, who expressed satisfaction at the prospect of introducing the esteemed Baccarat brand to the Maldives. Leal highlighted the potential of the brand’s presence to contribute positively to the luxury tourism sector in the region.
Located just a 30-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport, the proposed resort will comprise 50 water villas and 53 private residence villas. It promises guests an immersive experience amidst the Maldives’ natural beauty. Designed by the American design firm HKS, the resort’s architecture aims to complement the surrounding tropical landscape.
Each villa is set to boast a private pool, catering to guests seeking privacy and relaxation during their stay. With villa options ranging from one to three bedrooms, the resort aims to accommodate a variety of guest preferences.
The anticipated opening of the Baccarat Hotels and Residences Maldives is slated for 2027. It will add to the Maldives’ existing portfolio of 180 operational resorts.
