President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Wednesday, appointed two new Cabinet Ministers and a new Policy Secretary at the President’s Office. The appointment ceremony was held this morning at the President’s Office.
Dr Hussain Rasheed Hassan, previously the Minister of Environment, was appointed as Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture. This is after the President accepted the resignation of Zaha Waheed from the post of Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture.
The second Cabinet Minister appointed today was Aminath Shauna, to the newly-created Ministry Environment, Climate Change and Technology. Ms Shauna was previously employed as the Policy Secretary of the President’s Office. President Solih dissolved the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology and renamed the Ministry of Environment as the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology. The administrative reorganisation of the government comes under President Solih’s efforts to improve and strengthen public services and ensure the delivery of the administration’s pledges.
President Solih also appointed Ahmed Hamdhan to fill the position of Policy Secretary of the President’s Office. Ahmed Hamdhan was serving as an undersecretary at the President’s Office until his appointment.
