President Muizzu Highlights India’s Regional Role on Independence Day

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed Independence Day greetings to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reaffirming the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with India.
In separate messages, President Dr Muizzu extended greetings on behalf of the Maldivian Government and people to the Government and people of India on the country’s 80th Independence Day.
In his message to President Murmu, President Dr Muizzu described the occasion as reflecting India’s democratic strength and socio-economic progress. He also acknowledged India’s role in promoting peace, stability and prosperity across the Indian Ocean region.
Writing to Prime Minister Modi, the President expressed appreciation for India’s continued support for the Maldives’ development. He reaffirmed his commitment to deepening cooperation between the two countries across their strategic partnership.
President Dr Muizzu also shared his greetings in a post on X, referring to India’s decades of independence as a reflection of the aspirations, resilience and enduring spirit of its people and Government.
