Team of judges who will be evaluating Maldivian tourist businesses nominated for the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) have arrived in the country.
The panel of judges who will be evaluating businesses nominated from Maldives consist of experts in the field from Maldives, India and Sri Lanka.
The panel of judges will travel to each country and carry out their evaluation. Maldives is the first stop made by the judges.
SATA 2016 is being held in association with Colombo Chamber of Commerce.
Additional partners include Association of Travel Agents (ATA) Maldives, Liveaboard Association of Maldives (LAM), and Confederation of Associated Tour Operators of India.
Winners will be chosen from 39 categories from 10 segments – based 50 percent on marks given the judges and 50 percent on online voting.
Director of Maldivian event management company, High Rise, Ismail Hameed said that the panel of judges would be starting its work this Tuesday, October 18, and continue until October 22 at Champa Central Hotel –the hospitality partner of the event.
Maldivian businesses have been nominated in eight out of the nine Visitor’s Choice Categories, and over 140 Maldivian businesses have been nominated in 30 Self-Nominated Categories.
The panel of judges are set to travel next to Sri Lanka, and the India. The judges are scheduled to complete their work on October 27.
