Team Sonee Fishing wins the 12th season of Ooredoo Mas race, the exciting annual fishing tournament by Ooredoo Maldives which has become an integral part of the Maldivian annual calendar.
As part of Ooredoo Maldives’ 18th Anniversary celebration, Mas race 2023 has expanded its reach to include all four cities: Male’ City, Kulhudhuffushi City, Addu City, and Fuvahmulah City. The competition began on August 4th in Male’ City, with more than 30 teams registered to participate.
A number of special awards were given out to the winning teams and fishermen after a day of competitive fishing among the teams.
Champion Team: Team Sonee Fishing with 860 points
In the Ooredoo Masrace 2023, the Sonee Fishing team emerged as champions with an outstanding total of 860.34 points, earning them a cash prize of MVR25,000. The competition was highly competitive, with Detunefishing coming in second place with a respectable score of 698.7 points. Stelco Men closely followed in third place with a total of 412.18 points, showcasing the intense rivalry between the teams.
The Best Fisherman title went to Naushad from Team Crunchies, who showcased exceptional skills by landing a total of 17 catches. Fezu from DetuneFishing was recognized as the Best Fisherwoman, having reeled in a total of 4 impressive catches.
The competition will begin in the remaining cities on the dates listed below:
- Male’ City: 4th August
- Kulhudhuffushi City: 11th August
- Addu City: 18th August
- Fuvahmulah City: 25th August
Adding to the array of remarkable achievements, Waleed from Sonee Fishing made a significant contribution by landing a remarkable Giant Trevally, weighing an impressive 17.54 kilograms.
