State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has begun supplying water produced from the two 15-ton RO plants in K. Gaafaru for the general use of the island’s residents.
These RO plants were built by STELCO and the company began supplying water to the residents of Gaafaru on Sunday under certain rules. Each resident can take up to 20 litres of water free of charge each day. STELCO also stated that since the RO plants and water system in Gaafaru are not currently linked to the households, water needs to be collected from taps installed outside the RO plants.
The provision of water through these RO plants to the residents of Gaafaru provides easy access to clean water as they face shortages in clean drinking water on the island.
RO plants services are available from 04:00 pm to 06:00 pm.
