The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that a test flight will land in Gaaf Dhaalu Maavaarulu Airport in the coming 2 months.
The rest flight is slated to land after the runway work is concluded.
MTCC’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ali Zain stated that they have concluded 90% of the work to be done and that they are working on commissioning the runway.
Maavaarulu Airport is the second airport being opened in Gaaf Dhaalu Atoll.
Originally, the project commenced on 2011 and was restarted after a hiatus in 2018 under former President Abulla Yaameen’s reign.
